Effect
The performer introduces a pocket dictionary. The spectator looks through it, has a free choice of any one of the thousands of words, then writes his selection on a card. This card is inserted momentarily in the dictionary. After a moment of concentration, the spectator removes the card and places it in his pocket. He then hands the dictionary to the performer who opens it and immediately announces the chosen word and reads its definition.
How it is done
